JAVIER'S BIO

Born in Morelia, Michoacán México back in the 60’s Javier is the 7th of ten children in the González Family. Javier did not start soccer until he was 10 years old.  He had no skills so they stuck him in the goal, the first three years he played as a goalkeeper and loved it. Soon he got bored and moved to the field playing as a defender, at 15 years of age. Javier played as a freshman in high school, tried out for varsity soccer and made it, he played four consecutive years with two Titles.

While in high school he tried out for Atlético Morelia while in second division he was asked to play in the reserve’s team 1975, Luis Alvarado was the coach back then, and played every two Sundays at Venustiano Carranza’s Stadium holding 30,000 people in the stands. Arrived to San Diego at age 16, tried out for San Diego Toros from defected NASL league in 1976.  Played for Pan-American and Portuguese and Italian premier teams.  In 1977 he drove to Las Vegas for a soccer try-out for number one team in Las Vegas, Javier was asked to sign, played for two seasons with all Yugoslavian Nationals.  The following year he moved back to San Diego played with the San Diego Sockers played against Leonardo Cuellar and Hugo Sanchez (both coaches for the Mexican National Soccer Teams. Women’s and Men’s respectively.

During Christmas of 1983 he travels to Europe while in Madrid he was introduced to Luis Guijarro-Garcia.  A well known Agent.  Guijarro-Garcia arranges a try-out with a powerhouse. Javier describes his experience  “The try-out of his dreams” with Atletico de Madrid, in the 2nd division in the Spanish league “I had always dreamed playing in the Spanish League ” the team was Atletico Madrileño at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, Joaquin Peiró was the coach at that time, he was invited to the team’s pre-season and was ready to debut but suffered a terrible injury resulted a sprained ankle and partial tear of a ligament, two weeks later attended a try out with Rayo Vallecano it was obvious he was hurt and did not stay. 

He went back to Morelia after a treatment in hands of Dr. Flores months later he flew to San Diego where he enrolled at a community college and played intercollegiate tournament, at the end of the season he went to Puebla Mex.  and tried out, after running out of money he ended back in Morelia. In 1984  Javier finally signed a contract with Atletico Morelia (FMF) 1ª Division Mexican Federation of Soccer, at the time Nicandro Ortiz was the owner, after a season he moved to San Diego, CA.  Javier still plays soccer in the Huff & Puff league.  He has coached over a decade with the only one of a kind… Vogelsinger Soccer Academy, was director of coaching for  Girls and Boys High School Program, as well as  serving  as a Head Coach local San Diego soccer clubs.
